This Forum is supported by UN sponsored Permanent Committee on GIS Infrastructure (PCGIAP)
together with the Iran's Deeds and Properties Registration Organization, Iran Government, the
International Federation of Surveyors (FIG), the Global Spatial Data Infrastructure Association (GSDI)
and the Centre for Spatial Data Infrastructures and Land Administration, University of Melbourne.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has been a strong supporter of PCGIAP in the past. IRAN hosted a Committee meeting in Tehran in 1998, chaired a working Group for several years, and has participated in many Committee meetings with a senior-level delegation. It is therefore with confidence and with thanks that the PCGIAP accepts the kind offer of the Islamic Republic of Iran to host the 3rd UN supported PCGIAP Regional Land Administration Forum in May2009 with a focus on “Re-engineering the Cadastre to support e-Government”.
This is an important initiative for PCGIAP.The first two seminars, in Ulanbaatar, Mongolia in 2007, and in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia over the last two days, have demonstrated thegrowing need for a regular forum of land administration practitioners across the Asia and Pacific region. The next Forum in Iran is anticipated to continue this trend.
The PCGIAP hopes to be in a strong position to obtain United Nations support for a regular forum of land administration practitioners in the Asia and Pacific region at the 18th United Nations Regional Cartographic Conference for Asia and the Pacific, and the 15th meeting of the PCGIAP, to be held in Bangkok, Thailand in October 2009.PCGIAP Working Group 3, under the Chairmanship of Professor Ian Williamson from Australia, and co-Vice Chaired by Mr. Ahmad Fauzi of Malaysia and Professor Abbas Rajabifard of Australia, is ready to work closely with Iranian officials and other partners to design and deliver the 3rd UN supported PCGIAP Regional Land Administration Forum.
